主讲概况:Dr. Chiew Yee Meng, who currently is a full Professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, has close to forty years of research and consulting experience in the field of sediment transport, scour and erosion, turbulence, hydraulics and coastal/offshore engineering.  He particularly is interested in scour at hydraulic structures such as bridge piers, submarine pipelines, monopiles, ship propellers, jets, etc. and how such erosion affects the integrity of the surrounding structures and sediment bed. His research interests also include turbulence effects on fluvial and coastal hydraulics and their overall engineering impact and the effect of seepage on the turbulence characteristics in both open channel and closed-conduit flows. He is a committee member of the Fluvial Hydraulics Section, Technical Division III: Geophysical Hydraulics, International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR), and the associate editor of ASCE Journal of Hydraulic Engineering and International Journal of Sediment Research. He was the Chairman of the 2nd International Conference on Scour and Erosion, held in Singapore in 2004.  Throughout his career, Dr Chiew has functioned as a specialist consultant to many international and local companies as well as governmental organizations, offering his expert advice to solve challenging engineering projects. To date, Dr Chiew has published close to 200 papers in international journals and conferences with a total citation of 4355 (according to Researchgate). Dr. Chiew has won many awards and prizes including the prestigious ASCE Karl Emil Hilgard Hydraulic Prize 2021. 研究专长:forty years of research and consulting experience in the field of sediment transport, scour and erosion, turbulence, hydraulics and coastal/offshore engineering
