主讲概况:Lawrence Yoon Suk LEE is a professor at the Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong SAR. He started his B.S degree at Korea University, Seoul, Korea, then moved to Canada and completed at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. He received his PhD in physical chemistry from McGill University, Canada in 2006. After working as a postdoctoral researcher and research associate at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, he started his academic career in 2013. His research interests are on the development of earth-abundant nanomaterials and their hybrid composites for energy conversion and storage. His works mainly focused on the photocatalytic and electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) using various semiconductor-based nanostructures.研究专长:photocatalytic and electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) using various semiconductor-based nanostructures.

主讲内容概况:在对清洁和可持续能源日益增长需求的推动下,近年来已经开发了大量的能量转换技术,包括水分解、燃料电池和金属离子电池等。特别是,由析氢反应(HER)和析氧反应(OER)组成的水分解反应被认为是生产清洁能源氢以满足能源需求的一种有效方法。迄今为止,贵金属被认为是 HER 和 OER 最有效的催化剂,然而由于成本高和可用性有限,这在很大程度上阻碍了它们的广泛应用。基于地球丰富元素的半导体为光催化化学和能量转换提供了一个经济可行的平台。然而,大多数半导体存在因其带隙宽导致的光吸取能力不强、快速的电荷复合率以及能带位置不匹配等缺点。在本次讲座中,Lawrence Yoon Suk LEE将针对这些缺点而重点先容改进的策略。
