主讲概况:Chi-Hwa Wang是新加坡国立大学终身教授,硕、博士分别毕业于美国约翰霍普金斯大学和普林士顿大学。先后任新加坡国立大学工学院助理院长、麻省理工学院-新加坡联盟教员、东京大学JSPS学者、剑桥大学访问教授、麻省理工学院访问教授。目前是化工三大期刊Chemical Engineering Science的实行主编,同时担任Journal of Controlled Release,Powder Technology,Advanced Powder Technology 及Applied Energy等多个国际权威期刊编委。获美国化学工程师协会(AIChE)知名大奖Shining Star Award和Shell Thomas Baron Award等21项重要奖项和荣誉。个人已完成含新加坡国家自然基金(NRF)重点项目等项目18项。目前在研6项,总在研项目经费达6600万人民币。研究主要包括颗粒技术、生物质气化、能源转化等领域。在AIChE J., Chem. Eng. Sci, Adv. Drug. Deliver. Rev, J. Control. Release, Biomaterials等国际权威期刊发表论文244篇,总引用10439。担任第八届全球华人化工学者研讨会、第十六届国际流态化大会、第十五届国际可持续能源技术大会等多个国际著名学术会议大会主席。

主讲内容:This talk will focus on the fundamentals of fluid-particle flows and the corresponding translational applications in biomedical, pharmaceutical, energy and environmental fields. The concept of flow instability is applied to micro- and nano- particle fabrication and drug encapsulation techniques for pharmaceutical applications. These “therapeutic” particles are used in drug delivery systems for brain tumor treatments in conjunction with CFD analysis to predict the transport and reaction of drug molecules with the goal to achieve optimal delivery efficacy in an in vivo model. At the end of talk, some applied particle technology principles in energy and environmental processes will be reviewed. For instance, the development of gasification technology for the conversion of solid waste to energy and resource, including the development of modular gasifier integration packages for processing the mixed feedstock of biomass and sewage sludge to produce energy. The resulting gasification solid residues (fly ash and bottom ash) can be further processed in the forms of catalyst, biochar, and active carbon for a variety of renewable energy and environmental applications.
